How often to recharge the air con
An air conditioning system slowly loses gas over time. As a guide, it is worth having it checked and recharged every one to two years. If it loses gas faster, there is probably a leak, and we look for it before recharging.
A bad smell from the vents
An unpleasant smell when you switch on the air con usually comes from mould in the evaporator or from a dirty cabin filter. Replacing the filter and sanitising the system solves the problem in most cases.
Use it in winter too
Running the air con for a few minutes now and then in winter keeps the seals and the compressor lubricated. It also demists the windscreen much faster on cold, damp days.
